    Getting page time outs

Installed the latest Zabbix (v2.0.6) for the first time a few days ago. On CentOS 6 32bit using the zabbix rpm packages in the zabbix repo. Plenty of memory and swap. Almost no load.

I am getting constant page time out errors. I'm using Google Chrome. When I hit reload the page usually pops up right away. It's random but seems to happen after visiting several different pages in the GUI.

Log files are clean. No errors what so ever. Anyone have any ideas what may be going on or how I might be able to go about troubleshooting this?

This is running on an OpenVZ VPS if that matters by any chance. The Node has plenty of memory and swap and almost no load either. I'm not using proxy. Just Zabbix Server monitoring my OpenVZ and KVM Hosts directly.

After some head scratching and trial and error I think I improved things a bit.

I ran mysqltuner and implemented the suggestions.
Tuning MySQL Performance with MySQLTuner MySQLTuner is a Perl script that analyzes your MySQL performance and, based on the statistics it gathers...

    Then I read a thread about mod_deflate.

and implemented that. Seems to run better now. Never really had to do that before for mysql/php applications. I am only monitoring a handful of servers and what zabbix is doing doesn't seem like it should be that hard on php/mysql. I run drupal websites that do a lot more than this and I never need to tune mysql or use mod_deflate.

Also installed php-apc-cache but that didn't seem to help.

you have to keep in mind that those pages most likely are more read operations, while zabbix server is doing lots and lots of writes. that, plus the frontend could benefit from some optimisation

There is something wrong with zabbix 2.0.6. Even after all the optimization it keeps timing out or very long delay to get to a new page. I enabled zabbix-server debug but again log files are clean. It only seems to start happening after I have been on zabbix for awhile going to different pages.

This is a show stopper for me unfortunately. I cannot use this effectively if I have to deal with constant page time outs or long delays. It's useless to me with this problem.

Zabbix-server is on a VPS on a remote server I access over the internet. If this is not a situation zabbix can deal with then I will have to continue to use nagios which works flawlessly in this exact same scenario.

CPU and I/O are not under any load so that is not the problem. Internet connection to the server is fine with constantly good ping so that is not the problem. It's something in zabbix.

UPDATE: I have enabled all the cache settings in zabbix-server.conf. Since doing that it seems to be working ok so far. It's a very frustrating problem when there are no errors in the logs, no hardware problems. Nothing but these random delays and time outs that don't give any clues.
