graphs, screens, templates and stuff

I have imported a template to monitor a java process via jmx. I can see in the template the screen I have defined yet when I view the screen each graph says no data.

When I am looking at my host list and select graphs I see output like this:
Connect Template: Garbage Collection Collection Count

If I select the Garbage Collection Collection Count link I get the graph that I can then preview and I see data. If I select the Connect Template link then the Garbage Collection Collection Count from there I see no data.

So it appears that from my screen or from the template itself the graphs have no data but if I select the graph directly from the host window I get data.

What's up? Is there some connection between the template/screen to graph I've not set properly and why does it work if going to the graph directly?

When you are looking at the screen, make sure your slider bar is all the way to the right so that it says "Now" above it. Chances are you are looking back in time when there was no data present.

There isn't any slider on the window and the dates for the vertices are current.

AFAIK you won't ever see any data when you're on the template, instead of on the host that makes use of that template.

If you want to see the screen with data for that particular host, type the host's name in the search bar, press enter and then click on the host's "screen" link.

5.2.19 Templated host screens

Screens can be defined in templates. They are available for all hosts that are linked to the template. They can be accessed from the host popup menu everywhere, and from the search results.

I find it quite silly that it's not trivial to get to the screen! I want to be able to access the template screens via Monitoring > Screens !
