    VMWare monitoring in 2.2.0

    Hello.
    Today, I`m upgrade to version 2.2
    All it`s ok, but some features does not work...
    I cant`t configure zabbix binaries with vmware monitoring support. configure script does not have a key for enable this feature.
    I try to set in zabbix_server.conf StartVMWareConnectors=1 but have a error in startup output:
    ERROR: cannot start vmware collector because Zabbix server is built without VMware support
    My OS is: FreeBSD 8.3

    Anybody try this feature? it works fine?

    Same issue on Centos 5.10

    No options for configuring VMware support in 'configure --help' but library 'libzbxvmware' compiled correctly without any particular requests.

    In server.c default value for CONFIG_VMWARE_FORKS that is checked while showing error about Vmware support is 0. This constant read and set in function zbx_load_config from config parameter "StartVMwareCollectors" but in my config its set to 1.

    While further checking:
    #if defined(HAVE_LIBXML2) && defined(HAVE_LIBCURL)
    # define VMWARE_FEATURE_STATUS "YES"
    #else
    # define VMWARE_FEATURE_STATUS " NO"

    Thus you must have LIBXML2 and LIBCURL enabled to 'activate' VMware support...

      ./configure --with-libxml2 --with-libcurl

      I think team should mention this in some docs or enable configure option --with-vmware specially for VMware support lib.

          Fixed in Centos

          libxml2 compiled ok on CentOS:

          ZABBIX-configure.sh

          --BOF
          make uninstall && make clean
          ./configure --prefix=/opt/zabbix --with-jabber --with-ssh2 --with-ldap --with-openipmi --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl --with-libxml2 --with-mysql --enable-server --enable-agent
          --EOF

            --with-libxml2

            requires the package libxml2-dev

            Compiles and runs fine. But the templates mentioned here:

            weren't installed with the upgrade. Are they available separately somewhere?

              I've already upgrade Zabbix to 2.2.0 ver from packages, how can I enable VMware support, what are the steps to do?

              Many thanks in advance

                This is clearly mentioned in the docs:
                Configuration

                For virtual machine monitoring to work, Zabbix should be compiled with the --with-libxml2 and --with-libcurl compilation options.

                    Hello Timmy...

                    It was documented, take a look on Configuration section on the following link:

                    I've done the same thing, without the --with-libxml2. Good luck...

                          Thanks for the reply, I ended up compiling from source as I noticed the appliance had a note saying not for production.
