    E-mail configuration

    I have searched through pages and pages of threads on e-mail configuration, but I am still unable to get my alerts sent.

    Under Config/General/Media types

    Type: E-mail
    SMTP Server: External server.ourdomain.com
    SMTP helo: ourdomain.com
    SMTP e-mail: [email protected]

    Under user media:
    Type: E-mail description from above
    Send to: my [email protected]
    When active: 1-7,00:00-23:59;
    All boxes checked
    Status: enabled

    I created a trigger and have changed it so that it will always set to true and create an alert. When I look under Monitoring/Actions I can see a history of the alert and my e-mail shown as "recipient", but under the "status" column, it shows "Not sent" and the error column is empty.

    How can I find out why all these alerts are "not sent?" I don't see anything in the zabbix_server log.

    Admittedly, I'm very new at all this. Are there any other logs I should check? What does Zabbix use to send mail by default? Is there some way I can test to see if I can simply send mail from the zabbix machine to my e-mail address?

    perhaps it's no zabbix problem...
    what do /var/log/messages and maillog say?
    Big ZABBIX is watching you!
