    VMware monitoring on 2.2

    Hello,
i've have problem starting monitoring vmware hosts with default templates, first of all what i can see in discovery when i've add template Template Virt VMware is "Cannot create group: invalid group name ""."
So i'm guessing that template wants to create some kind of group?

If i've have Guest vmware monitoring template, it adds all discovered hosts to groups (vm) and hypervisor name: Discovered hosts, is the a way to change location where to add discovered hosts? maybe i could change smth in template?

VMware Hypervisor: can't create group ""

I'm having this problem as well. It appears the hypervisor discovery host template rule tries to create a group for the VMware cluster. Except my VMware server isn't part of a cluster, So I'm assuming its getting an empty string back for the cluster name, and then tries to use this as a group name to create.

As a result, the entire discovery fails and no hypervisor host gets created (but I do get hosts created for the individual VMs).

you can remove the macros in the host discovery and hardcode the group to add the hypervisor to.
this is what we did to work around the "issue" that multiple host groups (based on the amount of hypervisor servers) are added automatically.

Daniel approach is a little bit hardcore, using his pdf I've made some configuration directly in the web interface for Zabbix 7

Note: on the vmware server I have only 2 templates assigned
            VMware FQDN
            VMware Hypervisor

            now the config:
            Templates
For VMware FQDN click on Discovery 4
disable VMware FQDN Discover VMware clusters

            go back to Hosts
            click on the vmware host
for VMware FQDN click on Unlink and clear
            Update

            Click on the vmware host
add back the VMware FQDN template
            --------------------------------------------------------
            Go to Templates
            filter VMware FQDN
            Click on Discovery 4
For VMware FQDN Discover VMware hypervisors click on Host prototypes 1
            click on {#HV.NAME}
            remove {#CLUSTER.NAME} line
            Update

            Go to Hosts
            click on the vmware server
            click on Discovery 7
Select all the lines and click on Execute now
