Zabbix SMTP Configuration... unable to send email

I have installed Zabbix server 3.2 and experimenting with sending an email notification. So far I tried many things from this forum and other places but not successful yet.

    1. Created a trigger
    2. Created an action
    3. Setup SMTP for Amazon SES and another for localhost
    4. Provided permission to the user group for the group of the host (R/W)
    5. Set the Users Media and Permission correctly
    6. Checked and confirmed everything is enabled
    7. The trigger is firing correctly, but the email is not going
    8. Reports > Action is showing messages sent from localhost
    9. Reports > Audit is not showing any email communication
    10. Did not get any emails

Is there a way we can check if Zabbix is trying the send the emails or can I see the SMTP log. I think the email is not triggering...

First time with Zabbix, any help will be appreciated!

After looking more and trying again, I found the emails in the spam folder. Not sure why it did not work the first time. My first impression with Zabbix is that it is a well-designed software. An expert mode and a novice mode in the software would be a great addition!

Also, it would be nice to be able to view the SMTP communication with the server. My Amazon SES emails did not go through, I guess because amazon SES expects EHLO, whereas Zabbix probably sends HELO (this is just a guess)
