    Zabbix Active/Active

    Hi All,

I am trying to setup Zabbix Server in Active-Active Mode.
I have two Zabbix Servers with 60 agents talking to Server 1. Rest 40 agents talking to Server 2. At given time an agent will talk only to one server.
Both have their own separate Databases.
Now, I am planning to replicate both databases every 5 minutes using replication technology. I am doing this because we want a consolidated view of all the 100 agents in a single place.

If I were to operate in this Active-Active Mode, what are the challenges or concerns I need to take care while installing Zabbix Server.

Active / Active??? I don't know a setup with 2 active zabbix server.

What about zabbix server and a proxy server?

If you plan to use a cluster try it with this tutorial. For DB Sync use a mariadb galera cluster.

MariaDB Galera Cluster is a synchronous multi-master cluster for MariaDB. It is available on Linux only, and only supports the XtraDB/InnoDB storage engines. Starting with MariaDB 10.1, the wsrep API for Galera Cluster is included by default. This is available as a separate download for MariaDB 10.0 and MariaDB 5.5. Features Synchronous replication Active-active multi-master topology...

      You are wasting your time.
When active agent setup is used zabbix agent can hold already collected monitoring data for up to 1h (of course nit with default settings). Look on BufferSend and BufferSize agent settings.
Usually few or even few tenths of seconds is enough to restart proxy from image with empty database DB backend content or failover to second system on which proxy can be started.
Proxy can hold data for up to 24h an it is enough time to restart server with DB backend and warm all memory caches too work with normal/max speed or do any necessary maintenance.
