Old Issues and maybe a new deployment? 4.0?

    Hi Guys,

I'm planning on rebuilding our zabbix envionement as we get a lot of noise and have a few questions before i do!

We have around 400 hosts / 26000 items / 650 nps hanging off 4 proxies running Zabbix 3.2.0 on Centos.

Our Master server is geographically located a different site and we have always had a lot of noise on our client site as most of the hosts reside at the client site.

The noise is generated by "PROBLEM: Zabbix Agent on host "server1" is unreachable for 5 minutes." emails every few minutes.

Firstly, Is the current envionment worth saving with the master server on a different site? (The link is good between sites. 12ms and 10gb pipe.)
Secondly, if i were to rebuild the environment to house a modest 4 hosts / 26000 items / 650 nps. Should i rebuild using the individual servers for the front end, database and the server? or consolidate front end and server and run a seperate database for such a small deployment?
Thirdly, With the inevitable release of Zabbix 4.0 pending in the coming months.. Would it be worth rebuilding on Zabbix 4.0 beta with the view to upgrade to stable rather than install 3.4 and have to potentially deal with an upgrade straight to 4.0?

Are the installation guidelines the same for Zabbix 4.0 in comparison to Zabbix 3.2?
Do you think it would help with our agent times outs? Were running stock templates on stock collection intervals.
Are there some community templates with any upgrades or optimizations that may be worth a try for the basics? Windows / Linux hosts and Zabbix Agent to give us a solid monitoring solution to build as a foundation?

And lastly are their any diagnostic scripts to help with what may be choking our system up? Any diagnostics i can post that uncover the issues?

Cheers If you got this far!

    I'm all ears.

With all the respect, but mentioned "noise" by 99% is caused by performance issues which most likely comes from misconfiguration or lack of database tuning.
And most likely upgrade to newer version won't change anything.

Hi Dmitryb - Yes agreed. Would you know how best to troubleshoot misconfiguration issues on the proxy ends? From a master perspective is there much that can be tweaked in regards to the proxies? Or is stock values generally good enough for an installation of our scale?

Any opinions on running the 3.4.12 appliance for a sub <400 host Installation?

Did you monitor the zabbix server withe thr zabbix server template? If so go to monitoring-> graphs, select the zabbix server and chrck the graph named "zabbix data gathering process busy" and also the "zabbix internal process"

Here you can see what the healthstatus, more or less and see also some bottlenecks.
Which database are you running? Which size? Did you tune them.

It is also not recommend to use the default templates! The default templates are only to see what is possible! For example they monitor the load avg1, avg5 and avg15 that is useless you need only one of them!
