Zabbix Alerter Process running at 100%

    Hi guys -

After converting my Zabbix server from passive to active checks, I've noticed the trigger "Zabbix alerter processes more than 75% busy" isn't going away. I graphed item and that process is basically staying constant at 100%.

Now everything else is working great after the active agent switch, and alarms are going off when they should but nothing to warrant the process to run at 100% all the time.

Maybe I'm not understanding exactly what this process is doing? Anybody have a clue what could be causing this?

Nothing has really changed in my settings except I changed my items to Zabbix agent (active).

Found this link but doesn't seem helpful for the alerter problem I'm getting. Really hitting a wall on how to fix this process.

In the past, quite often Zabbix users have been puzzled regarding some server tuning parameters – for example, how many pollers do they need? It was usually determined based on experience, testing and a bit of guesstimating. No more fuzzy attempts – get hard facts with Zabbix 1.8.5. UPDATED 2011.11.02: new downloadable template version v2 […]

I have a similar issue and posted it - by mistake - on Russian forum...

Sometimes when there are many alerts to be send, alerter processes are 100% and notifications arrive only a few minutes later, sometimes after 10 or 20 minutes.

I don't see any emails stuck in the postfix queue so I assume that zabbix cannot handle and send many notifications at a time.

Is there a tweak or any other way to fix this?
It doesn't really help to receive alerts 15 minutes or so after an incident...

Postfix delivery delay setting is the default one, that is "0" and messages are sent immediately, as far as I can tell, because there are no messages in the queue, but still when I click on a notification I see "In process" instead of sent...

    Regards,
