    Active agent availability icon is showing red in the front end

    Hello,

    We installed a new Zabbix Server version 2.2.2 on a CentOS 6.5 virtual machine running on an ESXi 5.1 host

    To test the active agent configuration on the Windows platform, we done a Full clone on 2 templates; Template App Zabbix Agent and Template OS Windows, apply a Mass update of the type to "Zabbix agent (active)" and linked these new templates to the testing computer

    The "zabbix_agentd.conf" file look like this;

    LogFile=c:\Zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log
    #DebugLevel=4
    StartAgents=0
    ServerActive=MyZabbixServerFQDN
    Hostname=MyHostName

    After starting the agent file log

    Starting Zabbix Agent [MyHostName]. Zabbix 2.2.1 (revision 40801).
    using configuration file: C:\Zabbix\zabbix_agentd.conf
    agent #1 started [active checks #1]
    agent #0 started [collector]

    That seem to work because when we stop the agent, Zabbix server report that the "Agent is unreachable".

    But mouseover the red icon show this error message
    Get value from agent failed: cannot connect to [[X.X.X.X]:10050]: [4] Interrupted system call

    Regular passive agent is working correctly and availability icon is showing green in the front end.

    Anyone have a clue ?

    Firewall?
    Selinux?
    Any additional protecting software/hardware between server and agent?
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

      Hi,

      SELINUX was already disabled. I also tried to disable the firewall without any effect.

      When disabling the firewal on the computer running the Active Agent, the error message changes for this:
      Get value from agent failed: cannot connect to [[X.X.X.X]:10050]: [111] Connection refused

      It seems that the Zabbix server is trying to querying the agent

        Are you completely sure that you Zabbix Agent on Windows PC installed correctly as a Service and started from correct Username ?

        Did you try to do from Zabbix Server some testing of connection:
        Code:
        # telnet MyHostName 10050
        When I do it on my Zabbix Server I get the answer from agent:
        Code:
        # telnet [B]Win_PC_IP_address[/B] 10050
        Trying [B]Win_PC_IP_address[/B]...
        Connected to [B]Win_PC_IP_address[/B].
        Escape character is '^]'.
        long pause - {Timeout} seconds and then
        Code:
        Connection closed by foreign host.
        Sincerely yours,
        Aleksey

          I'm new to Zabbix, but I can confirm the same finding. Passive works fine. Active shows a red box and the same error message. It may be designed that way, but I don't see why.

            that icon only informs you about passive items, it is not affected by active items at all.

            if all items (including lld rules and prototypes) are active, you probably had a passive item against that host at some point in the past. there is no way to reset this status at this time - https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-1916 asks for that
