    Triggers - More than one of a particular type?

    I've created a trigger for monitoring the size of a log file. It works fine.

    I now want to add another similar trigger for a different log file.

    I don't appear to have the option of choosing another vfs.file.size trigger. If I try cloning the first trigger and altering the file name it doesn't work and I get lots of errors.

    So, is it possible to have several triggers of the same type eg vfs.file.size[/opt/var/log/messages] and vfs.file.size[/var/log/messages] etc., or can you only use a particular trigger type once?

    I'd be grateful for some advice, please.

    Of course that works. Just give it different keys (and names, obviously).

      Thanks for the reply 'steveboyson'.

      I expected that it should work, but whether I try to create a new trigger of type vfs.file.size from new or clone the existing one (with a different key and expression) I get a big pink banner "ERROR Cannot create trigger".

      I'll try deleting the existing trigger and starting again.

        Arrgh!

        It seems like I created the trigger by modifying vfs.file.size in 'Items', and then selecting the item in 'Triggers'.

        I then deleted the Trigger, but found that I still had the modified Item. I then deleted the Item, expecting it to revert to the default, but the vfs.file.size entry has now gone.

        How do I now restore the vfs.file.size Item, please - do I have to do it manually?

          How did you do it earlier?
          Manually? From Template? From Discovery?

          Just repeat the same process which you already done
          Sincerely yours,
          Aleksey

            Thanks for the reply 'aib'.

            I can't remember how I created the trigger in the first place.

            I've had a poke around, but can't find an item vfs.file.size anywhere - but then again, I'm not sure what other places it might be in except in 'Items'.

              Check
              Template OS Linux
              -> Discovery
              -> Mounted filesystem discovery
              -> Item prototypes

              All Item prototypes use key vfs.fs.size with different parameters.
              Sincerely yours,
              Aleksey

                [SOLVED] Triggers - more than one of a particular type?

                Sorted now!

                I misunderstood the relationship between items and triggers.

                Thanks to those that offered help.
