icmpping and icmppingsec

Hi

"icmpping" and "icmppingsec" items are not working in my new created template.
"http" item is working Ok.

Please help me how can I configure this items.

i remember something with those items if the hostname was used
instead of the ip address, search the forum.

Not sure if this is still the case.

I try to search

But there are no answer.
I try both: use hostname and use IP address.
Both of them perfectly pings from the server.
I try to ping both from "root" and "zabbix" users.
This items dont want to work under zabbix server and i dont understand why.
There are no error messages even in log file.

Hi

Problem solved.
You need to install "fping" program to ping hosts.
Also you need to set setuid that zabbix user will be able to run fping.
"chmod +s /usr/sbin/fping"

yes, I'm using that icmppingsec a lot to check simple devices.

This seems to be working, because i can see the return value (using icmppingsec), although its very small 0.001 - 0.01.
But how come I can't see any graph? (Monitor -> Latest Data -> Graph (in the items list)). Should i expect some kind of green-line in the graph? because the table just empty.

icmppingsec has no graph

After getting fping installed and configured I am getting good data for the icmppingsec but no graph.

Look at the data typ, you are storing.

Must me numeric float, and customer multiplier and a factor,
or switch <nomutiplier> on
