map only shows one host

i had a map with ~8 hosts, and after some upgrades it only showed one host in the map anymore.
in edit mode, i still saw all hosts.
i've then deleted the map, and created a new one, only containing 2 hosts.
but it still shows only 1 host when i'm not in edit mode.
can't find any errors in the apache logs ...

were you able to verify that the user have permission to hosts groups that does not appear in the map?
