    7596:20140425:113915.822 item [xxx]] became not suppo

    For security reason I replaced the actual hostname in an log file to "hostname" <logfile> in the example below.

    I am trying to set up log file monitoring. I am finding the following in the /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_server.log. I am running 2.2.3 of both the server and the agent.

    7596:20140425:113915.822 item ["hostname":log[/var/log/<logfile>]] became not supported: ZBX_NOTSUPPORTED

    Here is my configuration:

    ITEM:
    Name: Log Monitor
    Type: Zabbix Agent (active)
    Key: log[/var/log/####.log]
    Type of information: Log
    Update Interval: 10
    History Storage Period: 7

    TRIGGER:
    Name: Log Monitoring Test
    Expression: {Custom Linux Template:log[/var/log/####.log].str(TEST)}=1
    Severity: Average
    Enabled: checked.

    I originally had the issue where I could not send list of active checks error and I got that resolved. Now I get the became not supported error and after looking through various search engine searches decided to post here to see if anyone can assist. I'm fairly new to Zabbix and have been learning via trial and error.

    Just give a time to Zabbix.
    Sometimes (because of low value of Timeout=, or network error, or some other reason) the Items going to be Unavailable, and after some additional checks they returned to Available state.
    It happens often.

    Take you time. Breathe. Be patient.

      Thanks for the info, however It's been 4 hours and I still can not get the log monitoring to work. I don't even see the items when I go to Monitoring > latest data.

      From what I've read, once you get the ZBX_NOTSUPPORTED error, it doesn't work again until you fix whatever the issue is.

        Zabbix-agent
        - increase DebugLevel=4 in Zabbix-agent.conf:
        - restart agent
        - collect information about broken Item from zabbix-agent.log file

        zabbix-server
        - increase DebugLevel=4 in zabbix-server.conf
        - restart server
        - collect information about broken Item from zabbix-agent.log file

        After debugging don't forget to return DebugLevel back to 3 and restart agent & server

          Maybe error:Permission denied

          Dear,

          I try set debug lever 4 in zabbix-agent end it show detail error:

          23865:20141121:103414.222 cannot stat '/var/log/asa/asa-20141121011353.log': [13] Permission denied

          I think it may help you.
