Failing to detect SMTP status

I am new to Zabbix and am a little confused. I am not able to get the SMTP check to show that SMTP is Showbox Tutuapp Vidmate up and running on my Ubuntu server. All other checks seem to work fine as far as I can tell. If I log into the server I can telnet to port 25 and it responds properly. I can send emails properly. I don't understand whats going on. Everything in Zabbix is default, I havn't tried adjusting the SMTP template at all. I'm running Zabbix 4.0.3. Any help would be appreciated.
