TCP port check without the Zabbix Agent

I am trying to monitor the availability of our iSeries systems.

While the connection is a Telnet connection on port 23, the return value does not end with the expected characters.
On a previous version of Zabbix I was using a simple check for tcp,23, which worked just fine.

This check doesn't seem to be there in v4.

I am unable to install the agent.

Is it possible?

Not sure what are you missing? Simple check with key:
net.tcp.service[service,<ip>,<port>]
still works fine

I have to define the service and it's a non standard implementation of Telnet.

Connecting to the system returns a login screen and none of the expected list of terminators is returned.

As I said in a previous version I was just using Simple check tcp, 23



This option is not available in the latest version.

But this syntax should work:
net.tcp.service[tcp,<ip>,23]

Creates a TCP connection without expecting and sending anything. Unlike the other checks requires the port parameter to be specified.

It's version 1.8.

Thanks for that, I'd looked at the net.tcp.service check and hadn't noticed the service could be just tcp.
