eventlog monitoring & triggers

I've tried to get a handle on this through other forum posts, I've fiddled around with it and haven't gotten anything to work. Currently, there are triggers which are fired and have been triggered for 30-ish days. They are still in the event log which needs to be kept but is there a way to evaluate the eventlog over a sliding period of time, sort of like the avg to it can clear the trigger it self? But it needs to be alerted at the first sight of the issue.
