Zabbix Agent is not responding for the Zabbix server

    Dears,
I have ZABBIX server installed a year now. Now I tried to set agent on new server running opensuse 11.1 but unfortunately it's not working.

After my troubleshooting I found it strange on the Zabbix agent server

    netstat -lap
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name
    tcp 0 0 *:vpps-qua *:* LISTEN 20845/naf
    tcp 1 0 *:34784 *:* LISTEN 7726/xinetd
    tcp 0 0 SYGMA-MSX1:zabbix-agent *:* LISTEN -
    tcp 0 0 *:867 *:* LISTEN 7899/ispd
    tcp 0 0 169.254.64.5:sip *:* LISTEN 20904/gis
    tcp 0 0 169.254.64.4:sip *:* LISTEN 20904/gis
    tcp 0 0 169.254.64.3:sip *:* LISTEN 20904/gis

Till now the server can't see the agent up, I believe Zabbix agrent is not appearing right in the netstat.

    Please HELP !

Thanks. Can you provide the "HOW TO" for both?
I mean the rules to enable the agent and how to port them in the firewall.

          SElinux disabling

          iptables
          4. open ip of zabbix server and port 10050 of iptables, and restart iptables
          vi /etc/sysconfig/iptables
          add following two lines:
          -A INPUT -s {ip of zabbix server} -p tcp -m tcp --dport 10050 -j ACCEPT
          -A INPUT -s {ip of zabbix server} -p udp -m udp --dport 10050 -j ACCEPT
          restart iptables
          Sincerely yours,
          Aleksey

Thanks again. OpenSue is different. I used to setup agents on CentOS like this way. Also is it a must to restart the firewall?

After changing iptables you have to restart iptables.
If you are asking about firewall - I have no idea.
              Sincerely yours,
              Aleksey
