    Interface Link Down Question on Cisco Switch

    Hello everyone, newbie to Zabbix here!

    So I have a question, on our company with 150 employees we just hired 10 new people and we had to do some cabling cleanup on our patch panels and switches.

    After this, Zabbix triggered us with the following warnings:

    Interface Gi1/0/2(): Link down
    Interface Gi1/0/4(): Link down
    Interface Gi1/0/5(): Link down

    These three links were part of the "clean up", if not the only ones. Does this warning mean something else other than "something was connected before and now it's not"?

    However, the alerts were not removed automatically, are these type of alerts supposed to be manually removed after "fixed"? I mean, the only thing we did to "fix" was just removing the cabling from the patch cords, which does not affect the switch directly.

    Hoping to get responses and thanks in advance!

    "Does this warning mean something else other than "something was connected before and now it's not"?" No that is exactly what it means. The cable was removed or the interface went to down/down from up/up
    I suppose it depends on how you have them set up, but the only ways to resolve a link down alert is to bring the link back up or manually remove the warning (perhaps you could some up with an expression to make it resolve after a certain time limit but I woun;d not be skilled enough to do that at this point).
