Issues with upgrading 4.0 to 4.2... Database/frontend mismatch after upgrading (Deb8)

Hi all!

I've been racking my brains with this today. Tried following steps https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../debian_ubuntu

Feels like I ran into so many issues just trying to upgrade it.. I've come to a point where zabbix is up (able to receive e-mail/Slack notifications for our monitored systems), but web GUI access isn't working, and comes up with the following error:

• The frontend does not match Zabbix database. Current database version (mandatory/optional): 4020000/4020000. Required mandatory version: 4000000. Contact your system administrator.

I'm not sure why the front end wasn't updated as part of the process... Is there a way to fix this? Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Latest errors on zabbix server log show some errors with snmp connections:

1235:20190529:164616.462 SNMP agent item "system.uptime" on host "<host ip>" failed: first network error, wait for 15 seconds
11641:20190529:164617.935 cannot send list of active checks to "<another host ip>": host [<FQDN>] not found
11222:20190529:164716.650 resuming SNMP agent checks on host "<host ip>": connection restored

It looks like it restores and then disconnects then restores again?

Latest errors on var/log/apache2/error.log show:

Hello and welcome to Zabbix forums!

You have to upgrade your zabbix-frontend-php packages too. They are still on version 4.0 for some reason therefore throwing the database mismatch error.

The errors you posted from the logs are not relevant to this particular upgrade issue.

I ran the upgrade command exactly as described in the guide as seen below. I even ran the command 'apt-get install --only-upgrade zabbix-frontend-php" without success. It just says it is already up to date...

I have exact the same issue. All packages including the frontend are on version 4.2. I tried to find out, how the frontend checks itself, that it is running version 4.0. Couldn‘t figure it out by now. Let you all know, when i fixed it on my site. I post then the solution here.

Would love to hear your update if you find a fix! I have postponed upgrading for now.
