Only getting zabbix agent alerts - other problems trigger but no actions / alerts

Only getting zabbix agent alerts - I am getting problems for other triggers but no actions for them.
Action definition is simple if problem severity is average or high send an email. I know email is working because getting zabbix agent
unreachable messages for a few servers - thanks for any ideas

Zabbix agent has nothing to do with alerts.
Agent only collects data and only when those monitoring data are delivered to the server where they are evaluated against riggers definitions alarms (triggers) are created.

Email alerts are working only for alerts for the zabbix agent ie. lost connection to agent. All otehr alrts like CPU disk etc. show up as problems except no emails
so dont think the answer above applies - thanks Any other ideas?
