To repeat the situation as you have told:
- zabbix-server is not starting
- you don’t see Zabbix server process in the process list
- there is no output when you try to start zabbix-server service with systemctl
- there is no output in zabbix_server.log
(you didn’t provide the journalctl output regarding zabbix-server)

You need to find out what happens in systemd when it tries to start Zabbix server. Try something like https://www.certdepot.net/systemd-se...ebugging-tips/
and similar hints.

No error usually means that it's at least past some mistakes. might even be started. Check ps aux and zabbix_server.log after that.

Yes, it is possible to install a new server, install the same Zabbix version from official packages (check the availability before choosing your Linux distro), and then you can export+import the database. YMMV of course.

Just created a new Vm with ubuntu server 18.04.3 , exported the .sql and now importing , it is 1.4 Gb it is going to take some time...

Good news! Ubuntu 18.04 LTS installed sucessfuly with zabbix and database import with no problems ( I think) Now for the upgrade of Zabbix

I went into database log and I get a couple of errors, what I found strange is this one

I found out that for strange reason the agent was not installed in the server.

I end up solving the problem by installing from scratch with Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and importing the sql database from the command line. All working
