    Adding first device

    Hello,

I've successfully built my first Zabbix server using CentOS 7 as the OS with Apache/MySQL. I've also built LibreNMS and I want to compare the two before choosing one.

I've got a Cisco router (SNMP) live on the network and use Zabbix to run an SNMP walk which worked and then followed these instructions to add the device:

    https://techexpert.tips/zabbix/zabbi...o-switch-snmp/

I've waited over and hour and nothing has appeared. All I see is a healthy Zabbix server.

    What have I don't wrong?

    Thanks

Check if your community is the same on Cisco switch and on template. By default the community in zabbix is "public" and is configured by {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} macro from Administration - General - Macros. If you set a custom string as community add this in your template at Macros tab.
A good starting point is to probe your switch with snmpwalk like brunorici example.
If snmpwalk command is not installed you can install on Centos 7 with: yum install net-snmp-utils
