I am gathering SAN metrics over SNMP and due to the sheer number of ports I need to scan, I decided to only poll on a 300 second interval. Skipping all the details, I have discovered that speed per second seems to be hard coded to a 60 second interval. I had to create a 5x multiplier in order to get my numbers to look as expected.
I am currently gathering some independent data with cron so that I can determine if my new numbers are exactly correct or if it is some odd coincidence. At first I thought I had a bit/byte problem and tried an 8x multiplier, but those numbers then looked to be too high. All of the speed per second deltas I have previously used were on 60 second intervals and I had no trouble with them.
