    Help with SNMP Templates

    Hi,

I need a little help with Zabbix templates... I can sometimes find the templates online that I need such as a Cisco ASA5510 template, but often there are no triggers defined and I am not really sure how to add that myself.

Is there an easier way to get templates and graphs made? or do I need to edit the XML file? I heard there were generators for this but, I can't seem to find anything.

How do you generate templates? Could anyone give me a basic walk-through of how to get going on this?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Zabbix..

    READ!!

Now that ive mentioned that, you can go to Configuration -> Template, select your template and then click on Triggers.

Once in triggers you can "Create Trigger" and use the Expression Constructor to build a trigger you want. EG (CPU > 90).

    Good luck! Read read read!

      Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

I dont want to be rude, but did you READ my question?

I am looking to create SNMP Templates. How do you go about creating and building those? I am OK with triggers.

      Thanks!

LOL, a little humor never hurt anyone

Yes, I did read your question. Same place I told you to go though..

Configuration -> Templates (Create Template) in teh top right corner. Same concept, if you know how to build a trigger, you need to build items first before you can build a trigger using them.

To get the SNMP OID's you will need to do some research and find exaclty what you are looking for. If you are looking for Cisco templates, check out the links below. Theres a ton of pre-canned stuff that will probably save you alot of time.

        Enjoy!

Glad you took the humor as intended and really appreciate the help!

So I create the template then edit it, add the items with OID's, then create triggers.

How about graphs for those? any tips here?

          again, thank you!

If you are using pre-written tempaltes, graphs are included in alot of them. If you want to create your own graphs, same drill.

Configuration -> Templates -> Graphs -> (Create Graph)

You can graph the items that you create, and choose what color you want fo reach item. You can also choose teh type of line, adn which side of the graph to put the scale on...
