Zabbix can't connect to my MySQL database from new installed server

The complete error I get is

Cannot connect to ODBC DSN: [SQL_ERROR]:[08001][0][[unixODBC][MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Driver does not support server versions under 4.1.1]

Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
zabbix-server-mysql 4.2.8
libmyodbc_5.1.10-3_amd64.deb
libmysqlclient18_5.5.62-0+deb8u1_amd64.deb

The strange thing is that it works from the command line
isql -v Kayako
+---------------------------------------+
| Connected! |
| |
| sql-statement |
| help [tablename] |
| quit |
| |
+---------------------------------------+

And when I start it from zabbix
[Configuration][hosts][items]<Check now>
I get "Request sent successfully"

In the server log I see the same error for automatic checks but no error with a manual check.

Were you able to solve this problem ?? i'm going through the same thing. My base is at Azure
