Template with item key "foo" already linked to host.

I have a widely deployed template that has some discovery rules that I have been trying to remove. I removed the discovery from the old template and created a new template with the same discovery rules.

When I try to add the new template to a host I get this kind of error:

"Template with item key "foo" already linked to host."

"foo" isn't a real key. It's made up for the posting.

I'm running Zabbix 2.0.8 on top of a single Postgresql database.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

The correct way of removing the items is to open the template and click unlink and clear in order to remove them. Probably you didn't do it, so now you need to open the template and remove manually all the items.
Afterwards, try to create the new one and you won't have any issue.

If I use unlink and clear at the template or host level, it sounds like I'd lose all the other items attached to that template, including items I'm not deleting. Do I have that right?

Not really, when you link the template, you will have them again
