Zabbix 4.4.4 Agent Promxox LXC container High swap space usage ( less than 50% free)

Hi all,

i am New here hello community :-) . Currently, I have a problem with "High swap space usage ( less than 50% free)" after update last agents on my LXC containers.

Here a short information:
- I fixed this issue with a UserParameter on the local machines)
- UserParameter=ct.swap.size[*],free -b | awk '$ 1 == "Swap:" {total=$ 2; used=$ 3; free=$ 4; pfree=($ 4*100/$ 2); pused=($ 3*100/$ 2); if("$1" == "") {printf("%.0f", free )} else {printf("%.0f", $1 "" )} }'

After installing the last update from Zabbix a few days ago, I become the same swap warnings that I have before the workaround. I don't know why.

System clients:
- LXC Container Debian Buster/Stretch - Agents 4.4.4
- enough ram 4GB & 4GB Swap
- Swap 0 percent used - 100% free (but i have peaks from 100 to 0) see attachments (screenshots)
- In Proxmox i do not have this peaks from swap
- in compare the free space & free space in percent, i have in one of them peaks? What is going wrong?

System Zabbix host:
- Zabbix 4.4.4 - LXC Container Debian Buster

Would the solution be to enlarge the swap?

Hello Kachou,

in the current version of zabbix agent & server 4.4.5 i don´t have the problems anymore.
The Workaround from the medium website works fine.

I decided to use the workaround because the default memory for VM´s don´t work well with the LXC containers. (Wrong Memory interpretation, you can read about it here in the forum, no solution for this issue)
Currently, I not know if it works with the default checks. If it does not work with the default agent checks try the option with the workaround. That works well without fail alarms.

Edit:
I think that is an issue with the dynamic memory allocation from proxmox (the default agent check show over 50% usage but that use 2-5% in real by check the container stats in promox and inside the container. I think a bigger SWAP will not prevent this issue. I tryed it but that don´t helped me a few months ago).
You can tell me if it works by you with resizing the SWAP.
