Verify If zabbix agent is able to talk to the server

Hi,

I am having trouble understanding that " how could I verify that if zabbix agent is able to talk to the server" , I don't have complete access to the server as Zabbix server is handled by Admin. I just have access to the monitoring phase. I am using ubuntu 19.04.

The zabbix agent doesn't have to talk to the server, by default most checks are active, so the server (or proxy) polls the agent for items. See passive and active agent checks.

You should be able to test agent to server comms by creating another item of type "Zabbix agent (active)". If it is supported, the agent is communication.

FYI: I change almost all items to "active" for performance reasons, IMHO, they have less overhead on the proxies.
