How to link Host groups and templates

Can someone assist me in linking hosts (Host groups) to templates or templates to the Hosts groups or whichever way it works.

A template, as well as host, must belong to one or more host groups (this sounds silly but in the database templates and hosts (and proxies) are in the same table, so it's kind of the same thing). A template is linked to one or more hosts. The ability to link template to a host group has been asked for long time ago, feel free to vote: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBXNEXT-975

In other words, templates are not linked to host groups. Host groups are created for other purposes that are not related to templates. The documentation contains descriptions of your misunderstanding.

So I select host (not the hosts group), click on the templates tag, select the group (where this template is), check the name of the template, select, add. I see how it is working now. thanks.

In that your particular scenario as I understood you only use host group to find the needed template. Otherwise - yes, like you said. :-)
