Calculated item

Hello every one,

Just wondering if you're having the same issue here, i tried to create a calculated item, and by default, the information type box only allows "Numeric(unsigned)" and "Numeric(float)" available options.

The rest as in "Character, log and text" are greyed out, and unfortunately, i need the text type information.

Any idea why that is ?

I have attached a screenshot of my problem.

The calculated data element is the result of an arithmetic(!) operations and cannot have the "text" type. Of course, we would like to have support for converting types, for example, via JS. In other words , the conversion itself is easy to do, but the result cannot be saved in this data element. Use dependent data elements from the calculated ones.

Thank you guys for your quick reply, although, i am not sure what you mean by "using dependent data elements from the calculated ones"

It is possible that using calculated Items might not be the answer i am searching for since i am trying to display "item elements" on the map

Let me know if i should create a new post for this or if i can keep going in this discussion.

To display the value of a data item on the map, just use {{HOST.HOST}:item_key.last(0)} in label field of map element.

Thank Hamardaban for your reply and I apologize for the misunderstanding.
I already new that information because I read many documents and watched many videos too.

I did not want to get into details in this post since the subject is different.
I used to get the "UNKNOWN" result on my map

I therefore did a lot of modification in my Item and now it seems to work. (see the attached image)
