Hi,
I am having a few issues with some trapper items showing as having no data even though they have history. My understanding of a trapper item is that it will show the last received item until it is sent new data (unless it has not received an item within the history retention period), so I don't understand how it can have no data if it has no expectation of how often it should be receiving data.
I am using Zabbix 2.2 and I have an LLD rule that generates several trapper item prototypes and an external application that uses zabbix sender to send the discovery and item data to Zabbix every 10 minutes. The discovery data gets sent in one transaction and then the item data to populate the items generated from the discovery gets sent in another transaction. During every item send, most of the items get updated however, if a particular condition is not met, three of these items will not get updated. It's at this point that those trapper items show as having no data even though no item data was sent for these items (in other words, they weren't included in the send) and they are not becoming unsupported.
So the question is, under what circumstances will a trapper item show as having no data even though it has history? Am I missing a setting or am I misunderstanding how trapper items work? Or does it have something to do with the way I'm sending the data to zabbix?
Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I would love to crack this nut rather than have to find a workaround.
Thanks
Beth
