Agent on windows not seeing zabbix server

    Hello.
I have a fresh install of Zabbix running and thought I would connect a windows agent to it.
So I downloaded the relevant v5 of the windows client and installed as per the instructions.
    All good. service is running.
But I can not get it to communicate with the Zabbix server.
I have tried to telnet to the zabbix server on 10500 and no luck.
I disabled the UFW on Ubuntu and still no luck

I have looked for clues on the forum and still haven't found anything to suggest as to what could be the issue.
Yes I also tried it from a second windows machine so that suggests it is the Zabbix server. but what?

Did you try to connect to port 10050 from Zabbix Server to Windows machine?
    What you get from nmap:
    nmap {windows_machine_name_or_ip} -Pn -p 10050
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

      Hi Aleksey
      Thanks for your reply.
I just ran that command and got the below reply

      Host is up

      10050/TCP filtered zabbix-agent

actually Aleksey. I botched that. mistyped the port number on the zabbix server. in my firewall rules and added 10500 instead of 10050
now nmap sees the workstation and responds.

so I have tried from the windows box with nmap and It only sees port 22 and port 80 not 10050 even though the the firewall rule for that port is set to allow

I am not able to telnet to port 10050 either

I don't quite understand the issue.
Obviously the agent can't get through. But zabbix can now see the box where the agent is

Hello. does anyone have any clue as to why my windows agent can not see the zabbix server
The zabbix server can see the agent. u sing nmap
            10050/tcp open zabbix-agent

but the other way from windows to zabbix server port is closed.
even though the firewall on the zabbix server says it is open
            10050 allow anywhere

This is stalling my zabbix installation

The server and the client use different ports:

              Code:
              $sudo netstat -tnlp | egrep -i zabbix
              tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10050 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2282/zabbix_agentd
              tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2880/zabbix_server
              tcp6 0 0 :::10050 :::* LISTEN 2282/zabbix_agentd
              tcp6 0 0 :::10051 :::* LISTEN 2880/zabbix_server

When Zabbix Server connecting to Windows box, it uses port 10050. It doesn't need any additional ports to receive requested information.
It is working as it suppose to work.

Backward connection existing only when you use "Zabbix Agent (active)" type of items. In that case Zabbix Agent installed on Windows box will initiate a connection and you must configure Firewall to allow outbound traffic from Windows to Zabbix Server.

                Sincerely yours,
                Aleksey

                  You are absolutely correct.

I should have been a bit more careful in my response. What I should have clarified was that the zabbix_agentd (client) listens on port 10050 (by default). The server doesn't listen() on 10050 (by default).
              Working...
