altering triggers re checks item

Hello,

We have a item that is normally is checked every 15 minutes. However when we have been disabling / enabling the trigger it causes zabbix to re run the check.

Would it be possible to alter the servers logic so altering the trigger doesn't cause the item to be checked again ?.
