    IPMI network discovery

I have a lot of IPMI devices and i want to monitor them, first i thought that i can use IPMI checks in network discovery like for SNMP, but later noticed that zabbix does not have IPMI checks for discovery. I searched for that functionality in documentation for later version and found nothing, searched for same feature request in zabbix Jira and again found nothing.
I can't believe that i first person who want network discovery for IPMI.
May be i choose wrong way for it? Is there another solution to automatic discovery of IPMI devices?

hello you can use nmap for to check wich ports are open:

    Code:
    nmap ipmi-server1.my-local.de

    Starting Nmap 6.47 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2015-01-21 09:46 CET
Nmap scan report for ipmi-server1.my-local.de (192.168.1.1)
    Host is up (0.87s latency).
    Not shown: 996 closed ports
    PORT STATE SERVICE
    22/tcp open ssh
    80/tcp open http
    443/tcp open https
    5900/tcp open vnc

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 1.17 seconds
so here you can see that port 5900TCP is open, also ssh and hhtp(s), so you configure a check that check if this TCP ports are open, if so it is an IPMI-Interface

If we talk about assumptions based on open tcp ports, then better idea to seek for 623 open port, instead of ssh + http + vnc.
Anyway i can't link template to discovered hosts by that way, because i have different hardware and different templates and i need to get something like 'Board Mfg' from 'ipmitool fru print' to match template with discovered hardware.
