Cannot select host or group for "Monitoring -> Latest data"

Hi

I have a new install of zabbix v 2.4.3 from the rpms in the zabbix.com repository,
Scientific Linux 6.6, postgresql 8.4 as db.
All parts of zabbix on same machine.

When clicking on Monitoring -> Latest Data
I am not given the option to select a host and or a group.

I can get to Latest Data from right clicking in various other places to select a node and choose its latest data.

Is this a bug or a feature ? I could nobody else complaining about this, maybe i did not look
hard enough.

Assitance would be appreciated, screen shot attached.

In that screen there is a SHOW FILTER. I think You are looking for that one.

I will say this is a bug, this was not the the way this used to work, and by default there should not be any Filters.

By default the selection on the top right side for Group and Host is now missing.

Compare it with the Monitoring/Triggers link and you can see the selection and it is now removed from the Monitoring/Latest Data.

If I use version 2.2.3 the selections are there. See attached 2.2.3.png

If I use the latest version the options are gone..See attached 2.4.3.png

I would concur, but for now at least I can keep going.
This is my first 2.4 install so thought it might be something i did.

Will file a bug report. The powers that be can reject or accept it

This is a simple usability issue. It is understandable that "Show filter" button is not the easiest to spot but that is definitely not a bug.

The behavior of "Latest data" page has been changed from 2.2 to 2.4 due to performance issues in large installations and no more dropdowns are available in the latter versions.

The good news is that the upcoming 3.0 version will have redesigned user interface and the "Filter" button made much more visible.

I mean, it is great that it was changed due to performance, but it will also educate me on where to look just in case in the future.

Hi Paul,

I can't find the development documentation for the function change on Latest data page but the main functionality and features are always explained in the official Zabbix documentation.

The main reason for the functionality change was that in 2.2 on large installations when the dropdowns were set to display All host groups with All hosts then it was a great load on Zabbix which often ended as you saw it. Now in 2.4 option to select All/All is removed thus enabling faster usage of Latest data page.
