Point Zabbix Proxy to new Zabbix Server

    Hi all,

We have a Zabbix Proxy installed and working fine in one of our customers premises, which points to a Zabbix Server also on their premises.

Now that we are exiting our testing period of Zabbix, we are moving to a bigger server hosted externally, so that we can point other customers proxies to the same Server. The amount of traffic isn't an issue as it's not massive amounts, but I'm struggling to make the switch during testing.

We have one of our staging systems going through a separate staging proxy that points to the main Zabbix Server.

What I want to do is point this to our new Zabbix Server in order to check network connectivity, and ensure that data reaches the new server.

On the NEW server, I have configured the proxy and hosts (monitored by said proxy), and in zabbix_proxy.conf I have changed Server and ServerActive to both point to the new server.

The old server obviously registers that it isn't receiving this data anymore, but the new server isn't reporting it either.

The problem is, I don't know if the problem is with proxy config, server config, or network. The Proxy will still be receiving the data as that server hasn't changed name or IP.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,
    Morrolan

    Hi,

is your Zabbix Proxy configured Active or Passive on the Zabbix server?

1st thing you can check is to see if the (NEW) Zabbix server sees your proxy...

If you go to Administration-->Proxies on your (NEW) Zabbix server, you should see a list of your configured proxies and the last time they were seen by the Zabbix Server... This value should normally be under 60 seconds... If not, then the Zabbix server is not getting any heartbeats from your Proxy, and you definitely have either a Proxy configuration issue, or a network issue...

Start with this, and we'll go from there...

BTW, which Zabbix version are you using?

Apologies for not stating previously - the network guys had screwed up with the VPN tunnel, hence why traffic wasn't reaching the new server from the proxy.

Everything is all sorted now, but thankyou for the reply.
