Log File Monitoring Problem

I'm having an odd problem with log file monitoring (not an event log, just a plaintext .log file). The Zabbix agent on a windows machine successfully pushes all log entries from the file being monitored except the very last entry (which just happens to be the one I care about). I have successfully gotten around this by writing the last entry twice to the file, but I can't think this is the right way to accomplish the goal.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Have you tried just writing the newline character after each entry in the log, rather than at the beginning of the next line? I've experienced funny issues with newlines before, specifically around the last line.
