    Hostname not changing on frontend

    Hi all!

First post here. I have searched, and found similar topics, but none of them helped me.

I have installed the Zabbix agents on CentOS7. In the config (/etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.conf), I changed all that was needed for the host to sync with the server, but changing "Hostname" does not seem to help.

The original line was "Hostname=Zabbix server"
    I changed this to "Hostname=MyComputer"

After the agent (re)starts, it does sync up on the front end, but the hostname still shows as "Zabbix server".

I read on one of the posts here that the agent name had to be under 8 characters? That doesn't make sense to me, but out of curiosity, I tried that, too. It didn't work. So, I tried to use the "HostnameItem" and set it as it's default "HostnameItem=system.hostname" (I did comment out "Hostname="). Still, that did not work.

Any ideas on what I can do on the host to change the name of the host on the frontend? I do not want to have to configure the hostname on the frontend manually, if at all possible.

    Thank you in advance!

It doesn't "sync up" just by using the Zabbix agent. If you want to do something like using the Hostname from zabbix_agentd.conf I advise you to use active agent Auto Registration, you can look up about it here: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...o_registration

My apologies, I should have said that I have auto-registration setup (I believe).
I install the agent, configure it, and then start the agent, and poof - it appears on the front end.

But, I probably have something messed up, because I have just noticed that out of the three hosts configured this way, they all have the same interface (172.26.65.72:10050). That can't be right, can it?

Well, I figured it out. I had fat fingered the PSK and it wasn't registering with TLS. I figured it wouldn't register at all, but it did.
        Oh well.

        Thank you!
