    How to install zabbix agent on Linux

    Hi, I want to install zabbix agent on Linux (RHEL-6, RHEL-7). Zabbix server version running is zabbix-2.4. I tried to install agent from source but it generate compiler error. Any one can guide how to install precompiled agent or agent containing all the prerequisites, on linux, as I also download precompiled agent from zabbix site, it contains only directories like (etc, bin, sbin).

    Regards;

    2.4 is not supported version anymore. I suggest you upgrade it and switch to Zabbix 5.0 . The most convenient way of installing Zabbix is using this page: https://www.zabbix.com/download
    For RHEL 6 and 7 Zabbix agent packages are available through our repository.

      Thanks for your reply. Currently up gradation of zabbix server is not the issue and in our environment, accessing online yum repository is not possible. So, kindly guide how to install Linux agent ?

        Old copies of the official Zabbix packages can be found if you hunt around on repo.zabbix.com. It looks like the 2.4 series is still there for RHEL 6, too: https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/2.4/rhel/6/x86_64/

        You don't need to use an online repository to install them. You can use any web browser (including something like curl/wget) to download the RPM packages you need and then place them either in an internal repo that you maintain or copy them to the RHEL 6 systems and install them locally with yum. See the 'yum' manpage for how to do that.

        Keep in mind that version 2.4 is long past its end of life. It has not received any recent security updates. Continuing to run version 2.4 is a bad idea now, and it gets worse and worse the longer you continue with it. I recommend you follow dimir 's advice and upgrade to a version that is supported and is still receiving fixes.
