How monitor down/up of devices

Hello
i want to check tatus of all devices in our network, lots of them are without agent so need alternative like just ping their ip,
this key: icmpping
retyrn false value lots of time, zabbix server can ping device and device can ping zabbix too but "icmpping" return 0 value to zabbix server and say device is down,
any alternative for "icmpping" or other solution to check status of devices ??

Is the host monitored by proxy? How did you configure the icmpping item? icmpping uses fping utility, have you tried running fping manually?

most of the time icmpping show error that cant ping device but when i use "ping" and "fping" fromz abbix server to device and device to zabbix-server , both of them are ok
like now that zabbix server and device can see each other but zabbix show "server is down"
