Zabbix unreachable poller processes more than 75% busy

I have been having this the last few days again.

I set my max_connections on my MySQL to 5000, and i had my
StartPollers=1000 until today i tried to change it to a higher value. At that point zabbix server doesnst start.

Basically i have my myql connections set to 1000, and startpollers at 1000, and now that i tried to raise startpollers it wont start zabbix unless i leave it at 1000.

How can i get rid of this poller issue and or have zabbix start with a higher poller rate?

    Thanks!

Hello, you are changing the wrong configuration parameter. The one to get rid of this alert is the StartPollersUnreachable. Set your StartPollers back to what it was before, that's probably overkill.

You must start changing type of your items from "zabbix agent" to "zabbix agent (active)". Passive monitoring does not scale above some scale.

As kloczek stated, it's a good practice to start using active checks to reduce your server load and network overhead.

Do i set the StartPollersUnreachable to a higher value? Or lower?

Also how do i go about setting them to active checks?

I am really collecting all the data from SNMP

You need to set it to a higher value.

The "Active Checks" that kloczek mentioned are only available for items collected using Zabbix Agent on the monitored host. If you are using SNMP, you are bound to collect your data in a "passive" way, by polling the hosts using SNMP.

If you are not monitoring network devices (such as routers, switchs, etc.) or other devices which you can't install a Zabbix Agent, it is advised to use the Zabbix Agent and configure your items to use "Zabbix Agent (active)" item type. (https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...s/zabbix_agent)
This way, your server will perform better, and you won't need to open ports (udp:161 for snmp, or tcp:10050 for zabbix) on the monitored hosts, which is safer.
