    New Installation / Zabbix Agent not registering

    Hi,

    Please help - I'm banging my head against a wall here.
    Used Zabbix v2.x many moons ago, now in a different company, and this fits the bill for our monitoring requirements

    Environment: AWS Ubuntu 20.04. First host to install the agent just happens to be on the same subnet and vpc. However, I have created appropriate security groups to allow 10050 / 10051 traffic.
    For note, I did do a complete test installation between a server and host in my own tenancy just to check process, and this works fine. So, I'm confident it isnt an AWS thing.. although.. it could be I suppose.

    Problem:
    So - installed v5.2 on Ubuntu following the quickstart instructions. (great - still simple set up)
    Everything is good - the agent on the server is reporting to the server, and I get detail.

    Installing 5.2 agent (via MSI) on a Windows Server 2012 R2 server.

    It is not registering with the server when added as a host (see availability column)

    Things tried:
    - enable\disable host in server gui
    - restart service
    - Ensure complete comm's between server and agent. Double checked port numbers\ip addresses\firewalls\security groups etc. I can Telnet from Server to agent.
    - Also used zabbix_get on the server, polling the agent - and I can retrieve the hostname\version of the agent.

    So, i know comm's is fine.

    I've also tried the zip version of the agent and installing the service - same thing. Not registering in Zabbix Server.
    Also, gone down to 5.0.8 agent version, just to see if any different, still no dice.

    Agent or Server log files have no errors in them.

    What am I missing!?!

    Are you not linking templates or creating items to the host?
    For Windows, try linking the template "Windows by Zabbix agent" to that host. Click "WIN-92OKOQ3ARVQ" from the list of hosts, open the template tab, select the template "Windows by Zabbix agent" and save.

      Yes, exactly that!

      Approximately 20mins after posting this (and my post was in moderation, so i couldn't edit it) i found the solution browsing this whole forum - by chance I found a comment about "ah, the usual no green icon and no templates linking". That pointed me to it.. I thought all was good as I had added it to the "groups", with "Templates\Operating Systems" selected. I forgot about the Templates tab item!
