Problems page shows no results when filtering by parent host group

Zabbix Version: 5.2.4
Agent Versions: Mixture of 4.0.11 and 4.0.12
Agent OS: Windows

We just upgraded out Zabbix server from 4.0.11 to 5.2.4 the other day and we noticed that when filtering by parent host group on the Monitoring > Problems page that no results are shown.

We set up our host groups in v4.0.11 so that "Windows" is the root parent host group for all sub host groups. That way if we want to see all problems for Windows servers only we just filter by that parent host group. In 5.2.4 this no longer works.

Attached are two screenshots:

• Problems_no_filter.pgn - demonstrates that there are hosts with current problems
• Problems_with_filter.pgn - demonstrates that no results are displayed when filtering by the root (parent) host group "Windows"

Please note that the host blmarp01q is a member of the following host groups which are all subgroups of "Windows".

• Windows/Non-Prod/Apps/RedPrairie 2010
• Windows/Non-Prod/SQL Servers
• Windows/Sites/BLM/Apps/RedPrairie 2010/Non-Prod
• Windows/Sites/BLM/SQL Servers
• Windows/Teams/Plant Systems (Supply Chain)/Non-Prod
