The "network interface discovery" doesn't work for "Active Check" hosts

Hi,
Zabbix server v.5.2.1
Zabbix Agent v. 5.2.4

I have a Ubuntu 18.04 host that is configured for the "Active Check" with copied "Template OS Linux" where the item types are changed to "Zabbix agent (active)".
I see that the network interface discovery doesn't work in this case.
Is the network interface discovery ever supported for the 'Active Check' Linux hosts?
