    File /tmp/zabbix_traps.tmp doesn't exists

    Hello,

i've a problem with the snmp traps. I viewed a few topics here but i can't get rid of that error.

    OS: Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS
    Zabbix: Zabbix 4.4.10

I've installed the snmptrapd and the zabbix_trap_receiver.pl - the path to the *.tmp file is the same in both configs ( I've tried the other one /var/log/.... too, but also nothing)
The firewall allows incoming traffic on port 162, but shouldn't matter at this point - i do the smtptrap test 'smtptrap -v 1........" local on the machine and the /tmp/zabbix_traps.tmp file doesn't exist.

I looked at the zabbix_server.log file -> nothing. I don't see any reaction after the 'smtptrap -v 1 ......' test.
( The Option 'Log unmatched SNMP Traps' in the general settings is set, so at minimum: i should see the test in the zabbix_server.log, shouldn't i? )

Anybody here who can tell me where to look next?

Yes, it is StartSNMPTrapper = 1 in the zabbix_server.conf

    ps aux | grep snmp
    snmp 1320 0.0 0.1 61420 4188 ? S 2020 64:06 /usr/sbin/snmpd -Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -g snmp -I -smux mteTrigger mteTriggerConf -p /run/snmpd.pid
    zabbix 3323 0.0 0.1 986144 4536 ? S 11:38 0:00 /usr/sbin/zabbix_server: snmp trapp er [processed data in 0.000013 sec, idle 1 sec]
    root 14358 0.0 0.0 68328 3396 ? Ss Jun02 0:00 /usr/sbin/snmptrapd -Lsd -p /run/sn mptrapd.pid

    rights on /tmp/

    drwxrwxrwt 9 root root 4096 Jun 3 11:47 tmp

    EDIT: added some information

If this helps you, about setting up SNMP trap receiver on Debian 10: https://majornetwork.net/2021/05/con...bix-on-debian/

The two things I would look at next:
        1. did you modify the snmp config to actually call zabbix_trap_receiver.pl ? You have to tell snmptrapd that it needs to call the trap receiver script when it receives traps for certain communities.
        2. I don't use Ubuntu so I don't know if this is related, but on modern systems that use "systemd" to start up daemons, systemd may be configured to give that daemon a private temporary directory. Do some reading on "systemd PrivateTmp" and if that is the case for the snmptrapd service, you may need to adjust where Zabbix finds the file.

Have you started snmp trapper processes also? By default they are not started.
          Server config StartSNMPTrapper parameter......
