Any idea what is the reason for this?

Hi, well, that is a good thing.

Having items listed in the queue means that the items are still waiting for the values that should have been arrived already.

But it seems like a bug..they should not be completely empty.

Isn't the screen you want to see "Queue overview" instead of "Queue details"?

Hi I am seeing this exact issue as well after a 5.2 -> 5.4 upgrade, our queue's always have something in them and now they are completely blank, can this be filed as a bug please.

edit; running 5.4.4 upgraded from 5.2 (not sure of minor version)

I'm seeing the exact same thing in my environment after upgrading from 5.2 > 5.4.9

We've never been at an empty queue previously, we have 548.2 new values per second, and the zabbix server is running on a SAN that is quite over provisioned in terms of I/O and usually has a fairly high wait time for reads/writes which causes a bit of a queue.

We commonly had hosts waiting 30 seconds at least to report data, and now there isn't a queue, which I found quite suspicious, until I saw the attached.

I think it might've just become much, much more efficient. Click image for larger version
