Service monitoring not pulling service state

We have a service we are trying to monitor that has an 8 to 10 Character unique designator in the service name how do I configure the service.info or other setting to monitor this service?
Example: service-ver-EIGHT123 (unique identifier at each site) I have tried replacing the 8 characters with ******** and I keep getting "No such service (255)". Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,

If you're speaking about Linux services and you use systemd, you can try to use "systemd.unit.discovery" key from Zabbix agent 2 and create discovery rule by analogy with "Windows by Zabbix agent" template (check how macros are used in this template and discovery rules). Also there should be some systemd templates in their git repository:

Your only option (besides manually creating everything) is using discovery and creating items/triggers matching things in your current host. Item names cannot contain wildacrds in most of cases.

Thank you Cyber, We are working to create items that will use the unique attributes of the service we are looking for, it is a little more time consuming however will give us true results.
