zabbix_agentd net.dns ipv6 doesn't work?

I'm trying to use zabbix_agent (2.4.5) to do a dns query to an ipv6 dns server, but it doesn't appear to work.

I've tried putting the address in square brackets, and quote marks. I've also tried connecting to the agent on both ipv4 and ipv6. It appears the agent is unwilling to initiate ipv6 connections.

Here is all I get from the debug log:

It does seem to work if I query an ipv4 dns server, but I have an ipv6 only server that I need to monitor.
