    Zabbix agentd daemonize

    Hi Alexei

I installed zabbix on 64 bit Fedora Core 5.
Now i noticed the strange situation.
When i connects to server via ssh and start zabbix_agentd i can't disconnect this ssh session and i have to kill it.
It seems that agentd not corretly daemonize and don't deattach from the current shell.

I try to start zabbix_agentd and exit from shell. Shell hangs.
I try to start zabbix_agentd, kill it and exit from shell. Shell terminates correctly.

    Can you check this ?

    Thanks

    Greetings,

This is an issue that Zabbix has had for a long time now. Basically, the problem is that the Zabbix Agent daemon does not release it's open file handles correctly. Because of this, tools like cfengine will hang when it attempts to start Zabbix, and ssh will hang the connection when you try to log out.

well, you can add a workaround to your init scripts, the issue
itself however should be fixed by the zabbix devs.

1.1.4 still has this or similar issue, after kill command main process stays in memory with 5 zombified children, and does not respond to SIGTERM, can only be killed with kill -9

This is hard to reproduce but i saw that about 20 times on different machines.
